CUTE 'Ant Hill' Rice Crispy Treats *Great for Halloween or any Bug themed Party!*

Interested in using these treats for a bug themed Party?
Or a fun Snug-as a bug themed Baby Shower?

These make great:

Party Favors
Party Desserts
Halloween neighbor treats
or
Visiting Teaching treats!

Rice Crispy Treats with chocolate chip ants (for the bodies)
**Could also make ones with red hots for red ants! (I used red sprinkles on half and they still looked great)

THE HOW TO:

  • **Mix your ingredients over the stove, as usual, then when they have cooled, scoop out and firmly press the treat mixture into a small cooking funnel (to shape!) This will give you the fun 'ant hill' shape.
  •  Then grab 3 chocolate chips and place them together in any direction for your ant :)
OR use red hots or red colored M&M's for RED ANT bodies. I used red sprinkles on some because that's what I had, but loved this touch too!

Vintage Yo-plait Halloween 'treat containers' (pen cups) --Don't toss that yogurt!

Good Ol'
 Frank

 Ghost
(Casper)

 Jack

My
Batty

As cute Decorative touches!

To Make these Up-cycled cups, you will need:
This paper is called: Texts  Mini Scraps  Paper Passport (made by Provo Craft)
  • Yo-plait yogurt cups (rinsed and dried)
  • paper of your choice (I chose a more vintage style paper, AND black and white magazine paper to make one 'book page' looking ghost)
  • My Paper---->the picture to the right here...I couldn't find it in a store because its retired paper, but I did find the same thing (almost, you'll see why...click here------->) on Ebay! The 5pc pack for $1.25! So this has a redish brown color instead of the orange-y. Could still work nicely with the vintage look being this color for a pumpkin, or you could even mix some orange paper of your own with it OR use your own orange paper altogether. You choose!
  • Modge-podge or Elmers glue
  • (optional) Thin ribbon, twine, etc. if wanting to make the treat pails (handle)
  • (optional) hole punch--if making the treat pails, or a circle punch pattern around the top rim of your cup.
  • scissors
  • Sharpy marker I used black for all
  • foam brush or paint brush
Steps:
  • rip the paper you will be using for your chosen container character (all different shapes and sizes and lengths to get that pieced together look--decopage!)--will probably rip some as you go, if you need to fill a certain size space...
  • cover whole cup with your glue
  • place one piece of your paper on at a time and remember to put glue on top of that piece before applying the next paper--This makes sure that how ever you choose to layer their will be enough glue under and on top of each paper!
  • Cover entire cup--go over whole thing with your brush to make sure its as flat to the cup as you'd like and has a nice thin coat of glue to seal the top.
  • Let dry
  • optional--hole punch where desired (rim circle pattern for cute look, OR two holes to make your 'treat pail')
  • draw on your faces!
Hope you like these as much as I do!

You Can use them for gifting treats to neighbors, co-workers, for Visiting Teaching, children you teach OR as party favors/decor!

'Make A Face' Bath time Jack-O-Lanterns!

***Use The Purple, Green and Orange Foam sheet from the 10pk you bought at the dollar tree to do the Bath foam shapes (cookie cutter) from my other post! [2-crafts in one buy!]

Click here now to see the $1 DIY Bath Foam shapes blog post

For the bath time Jack-O-lanterns, you just free hand your pumpkin shapes and facial features/extras (hats, mustache, hair, etc.)and cut them out!

I included:
  1. Ears
  2. for the noses/eyes/mouth:triangles, circles, & squares
  3. mouth shapes and smiles (some with teeth)
  4. stems and leaves/vine

*SIDE NOTE: TO MAKE USE OF AS MUCH OF THE TRIM (IN BETWEEN COOKIE CUTTER TRACINGS) CUT OFF THE CORNERS TO MAKE TRIANGLES, AND RECTANGLES AND CIRCLES IN ANY SPACE THAT IS LEFT FROM ALL YOU HAVE ALREADY CUT FROM YOUR SHEETS! THIS WAY YOUR LITTLE ONE CAN MAKE HOUSES, OR FACES, ETC. (JUST BUILD THINGS, COUNT, SEPARATE SHAPES...) WITH LEFT OVER FOAM MATERIALS!
*CAUTION: DO NOT MAKE ANY SHAPES TOO SMALL IF YOUR KIDS ARE AT THE AGE OF WANTING TO PUT ALL THINGS IN THEIR MOUTH ;)

$1 Foam Bath Shapes (STICKS TO WALLS!)

Aren't my Boys Cuties!?

Literally all you need to make these are:
  1. Foam sheets--got a pack of 10 (multi-colored) at the dollar tree
  2. Cookie cutters--I have a big set that we were given as a wedding gift from my little sister, actually! And what a great buy they were, I love them :) Thanks Lanie! And I learned after I opened them that they are are colored coded by theme...Christmas are green, Halloween are orange, etc. Awesome when you want to find just a specific kind for a holiday in a hurry!
They were bought at Bed Bath & Beyond and here is the link to see/buy them:
A great $9.99 investment!
Or you can always use your own cookie cutters, if you have them (I know dollar tree also carries Christmas and Halloween ones at least--during the couple months before the holiday ;)
Last...
        3. Pen to trace the shapes (I traced the inside of the cutters)/
and scissors to cut around your tracings (cut on the inside of traced lines to avoid                 showing the pen lines on the finished shapes).
Let You Kiddos Get Them Wet And Stick Them All Over The Tub And Walls!
DIY **~ Magic Wands!~**

 These are just TOO EASY!
Materials:

  1. Pipe cleaners (any or lots of colors)
  2. Paints and brushes
  3. Hot glue gun
  4. Beans/sequins
  5. Glitter or glitter glue
  6. Sticks (outside) or wooden dowels
Steps:
  1. Paint the sticks or dowels and color or pattern you want, let dry.
  2. wrap the pipe cleaners around the bottom end of your stick to create the handle
  3. add on the beads/sequins with your hot glue gun to your wants (I put some on the handle of mine--on top of the pipe cleaner handles, as well as the very tip and very bottom--under the handle--to add some fun character)
  4. add on glitter or glitter glue (before or after you hot glue on your gems)
And...AbraCadabra!
